Bio

Bill was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and attended St. Augustin School (yes, that's how it's spelled there) until third grade when the family moved to Omaha, Neb. There he -- and his brother and three sisters -- went to St. Cecilia's. The family settled in Seattle in 1964 in Assumption parish.

Bill went to St. Edward's Seminary and St. Thomas Seminary in Kenmore, Wash., for high school and two years of college. He transferred to the University of Washington where he met Monica.

    And the rest is history.

He has worked for the Catholic Youth Organization running the Search retreat program; was assistant director of a drop-in recreation program with the King County Association for Retarded Citizens; and was a reporter, assistant editor and editor at the Catholic Northwest Progress newspaper.

    He's been free-lancing since 1988.

Bill and Monica are the editors of "My Daily Visitor" magazine, published by Our Sunday Visitor. They also write the "Family" column for Catholic News Service, distributed to Catholic newspapers throughout the United States and Canada. They're the founders of the Friends of St. John the Caregiver, an international Catholic organization that promotes care for family caregivers.
